Precise synthesis and new development of metal oxide soft crystals

Keywords
Metal Oxide, Polyoxometalate, Soft Crystal, Magnetism

Research Outline

Metal oxide clusters are inorganic molecular materials that exhibit various properties, such as optical properties, magnetic properties, catalytic properties, and ionic conductivities, depending on their structures, composition, electronic states, and intermetallic interactions. Therefore, if control of the structures by external stimulus and control of molecular arrangement in the crystals can be performed, it is possible to develop highly functional materials, such as sensors and magnetic recording materials. We have developed a novel synthetic method of metal oxide clusters exhibiting excellent functions and physical properties. In this project, based on the precise synthesis method of metal oxide clusters, we will create “metal oxide soft crystals” whose optical and magnetic properties can be remarkably changed.
